Summary:
I have been looking for a good option to keep a handgun easily accessible but safe from the hands of children, and I think I may have found it with The GunBox. After using The GunBox for several months I have fallen in love with it. The fingerprint scanner works perfect, many gun owners know the frustration that comes with biometric safes. The GunBox rarely has issues scanning fingerprints, I almost never have to scan my fingerprint more than once. It is lightweight and easy to throw in the car, and because of the built in battery it can be used for short periods of time away from the house. If you are planning on taking this with you I would strongly recommend getting a car charger since there is no way to open the box when the battery is dead. The GunBox starts at $299.00 and goes all the way to $499.00, for $319 you can get a model that will have everything most people will need (RF & Biometric) It only lacks GPS tracking. Many people have asked me “Is The GunBox is worth $300-$500 when you could spend a few hundred more and get a 20 rifle gun safe.” The short answer is yes, The GunBox is by no means a gun safe it’s gun storage that is safe and convenient. If I need to get to my handgun quickly I trust that I am going to be able to open The GunBox without any difficulty.
What I liked
The Gunbox is very sleek looking, enough so that my wife is ok with it being in plain sight. It comes with USB ports on the back to charge devices, which admittedly at first I thought was pointless but I have found that they are extremely useful. It is small in stature but is easily able to fit about any service size handgun inside of it. The fingerprint scanner works very well, I rarely have to scan my fingerprint more than one time.
What could they do better?
My biggest complaint would be the battery life, do not expect this to last more than 24 hours. They recommend if you are going on battery to shut of tracking, so I did and let it sit to see how long it would last. I was able to squeeze 30 Hours out of it without opening it one time. The tamper alarm doesn’t seem to work that well I can shake it and flip it without the alarm sounding.

Looks like a good safe but you’re right about the tamper alarm being junk.
