Basic Description:

DESCRIPTION
KUIU’s early to mid-season Alpine Pant has taken advantage of cutting edge lightweight knitted yarns to reduce weight, increase durability, and improve the overall performance of this outstanding pant. The innovative and very comfortable articulated kneepad offers great protection in rocky, brushy terrain while kneeling to glass or in preparing your pack or to prepare dinner on the mountain. Originally introduced to the public in April KUIU’s Alpine Pants have been well received. Toray was asked by KUIU to create a new lightweight knitted fabric out of their Primeflex yarn. The result was the remarkable Alpine Pant, which is slightly heavier than the Tiburon Pant, yet slightly lighter than the Attack Pant. It is ideal for early-to-mid season hunting conditions. The full-featured Alpine Hunting Pant has dual cargo pockets with zippers, hip vents, and a heat bonded Kevlar/Polyester kneepad for added protection and comfort.

My Story:

When I read that KUIU and Toray were in the process of developing a new lightweight knitted fabric out of their Primeflex yarn I was stoked as I had been hoping for a pant that was slightly heavier and durable than the hot weather Tiburon Pants for my use on earlier to mid-season hunts. I also wanted a pant slightly lighter than the Attack Pants. I knew the Alpine Pant would be perfect for my Mountain Hunting demands for clothing that was capable of performing under the changing weather conditions of early to mid-season hunts during the fall months in the Rocky Mountains.

As a desert sheep guide I’m always on my knees in rocky, cactus covered terrain while kneeling to glass, to cook, etc, so the articulated knee pads designed in the Alpine Pant are a perfect fit for my demands. Although my early fall hunts generally take place in hot conditions the temperatures can fluctuate quickly and swing to the cold side so I need a pant that is capable of performing in different conditions.

I wore the Alpine Pant continuously earlier this spring on some demanding
scouting trips as well as in some thick oak brush while shed antler hunting and I
have absolutely loved what I refer to as my “kick butt Alpine pants.” The
versatility and comfort that these pants have given me is greatly appreciated.
The water repellent face fabric that has been treated with Toray KUDOS DWR
Finish performs amazingly well in wet weather and the antimicrobial treatment
does reduce the odor. If it gets hot I found the zippered side vents on these pants
to provide great breathability and the 4-way mechanical stretch provides me with
the flexibility and comfort of movement that I have must have when navigating
through difficult, rough terrain.

The double zippered cargo pockets on both sides of these pants offer extra
space for various items and the two zippered hand pockets and back pockets
have been perfectly designed for comfort. I appreciate the thought that was given
to the pocket configurations they are roomy and will also keep items that I secure
in my pockets from getting lost.

I can’t believe how light my Alpine Pants feel when I’m wearing them yet they
provide the protection, warmth and ventilation that my legs need. I wore
these pants in some of the thickest oak brush a man could find this spring and
couldn’t tear a hole in them. That’s very impressive because my wife believes
that I’m one of the toughest people she knows in finding ways to rip holes in my
hunting pants!

I highly recommend the purchase of KUIU’s Alpine Pant so that you may add it to
your personal gear list. These are one my my very favorite hunting pants
because of the versatility that they have give me. When heading out onto the
mountain on my hunting adventures this fall I can guarantee that I will be
wearing these pants. Reasonably priced at $149.99 you can purchase the Alpine
Pant in Verde and Vias in waist sizes 32-40.
