Just the facts:
Hammock camping is now a 4-season adventure. Even the most ideal hammock setup is ruined if you can’t stay warm. The Insulated Hammock V™ with non-slip zones and Klymalite™ lofted synthetic insulation boasts a generous 180 degrees of protection from cold air and drafts. And because this pad features incredibly light, soft-touch fabric, you can get all the warmth you need for just two pounds.
- Klymalite™ Synthetic insulation: Lightweight, compressible and durable, advanced synthetic insulation in the chambers slows the transfer of air between the top and bottom halves of the pad for improved thermal performance.
- Compatibility: Fits all standard hammocks, single or double wide.
- Coated on-slip zones: On the top and bottom to keep your pad and sleeping bag in place all night.
- Ergonomic: Pad wraps the body to create a barrier preventing cold from creeping in from the bottom and sides.
- V-Chamber Design: Limits air movement keeping you nice warm.
- Flush Flat Valves: Secure and comfortable, our flat inflation and deflation valve allows for easy inflation and opens wide for rapid, complete deflation.
- Lightweight: Packs small and weights only 35 oz, light enough to backpack with.
- Patch Kit included for emergency repairs

My Story:
Summer is a great time for just about all outdoor adventures. I make a point to get out as much as I can and this year was no different. After meeting with Klymit at the Summer OR show I was really excited to get an opportunity to test out the Insulated Hammock V and the Pillow X. I have had my fair share of freezing nights in a hammock without a pad and I was ready to put this bad boy to the test. A pillow is always a nice addition to any sleeping situation so that was also something I was eager to try.
The Washington archery elk season was in full swing the first time I was able to test out the Hammock V. The summer days are hot and could easily fool you into thinking that you do not need any insulation but when the sun goes down the temperatures drop fast in the mountains. Foolishness on past trips taught me a hard learned lesson on this and I was very excited to now make the same mistake again.
The Hammock V setup is about as strait forward as you could ask for as you simply blow it up and put it in the hammock. There is a rubber coating on the pad to help it stay in place and the side wings help to wrap you in a comfortable insulation layer. They also almost completely eliminate the possibility of you rolling off your pad. I tend to be a side sleeper, yes even in a hammock, and for me this was possible the most exciting feature of this pad. My first night was absolute bliss! I slept like a tornado and in the early part of the night I twisted, rolled, sat up and down, and moved about as much as I could trying to see if the pad would squirt out from under me. It stayed right where it should and when I finally settled into my slumber I was at a level 10 comfort.
The next day I was very excited to share this new discovery with a friend and over the duration of our elk camp I let my best bud and co-editor Johnny and my father-in-law each have a night with the pad. The group consensus was that this pad was a huge hit and exactly what the hammock sleepers of the world have been waiting for!
The Pillow X was next on the list to test. I did use it one night in the hammock and a few times in the house while watching T.V. but I did not really have the chance to test it until I went into the backcountry of Idaho. I had planned a hunt that would see me alone for the first 4 days and I was going to make a spike camp which was 2 miles back in off the road. When packing in a camp that far you don’t want to waste space or add unnecessary weight. The Pillow X was a great option for me as I am a very avid pillow guy.
Fortunately for me I was successful on the first evening of my hunt as I was lucky to harvest a nice bull elk. After dealing with the bull and packing the first load back to camp I was more than eager to hit the sack. The Pillow X was waiting to great my head and I was asleep almost as fast as my head hit the pillow. I awoke without any neck pain and I counted that a huge success as that is a reoccurring issue that I deal with.
Sadly I was unable to take a photograph of my setup as my mind was focused on the work that was yet to be done and I simply forgot to take a photo. Luckily I had more time on this trip and though it was no longer in my spike camp it was still a camp and I was able to put the Pillow X through a week long test both in my tipi and in a wall tent. I would love to write a whole story about this great pillow but it’s just too simple to get that much detail. You inflate the pillow and soon after you enter dreamland. This is truly an exceptional substitute to balling up a coat or packing in a heavy pillow.
In the end I found that both the Hammock V and the Pillow X are products that perform exactly as advertised and provide extreme comfort the sleepy hunter, hiker, or car camper. I am confident you will love these products as I did. This is just another fine set of products in Klymit’s already amazing line of great backcountry sleeping systems. Good on ya Klymit!
