Story
Perhaps the best night of rest you can buy. After spending years of restless sleep while backpacking. I have found a blow up mattress that will make you feel like you’re almost at home in bed. I talk about the Big Agnes Q-core.
Before buying this. I read several articles, tried many out in stores, and compared many bands before pulling the trigger on the Q-core by Big Agnes. I wanted a mattress with a high R value, light weight, packable, and most important was comfortable. I was willing to sacrifice packing a little extra weight to have a more restful and comfortable night of sleep.
This year, I have spent over 30 nights on the Q-core during several wild land deployments and backpacking trips. I have had zero problems even while sleeping in low land sage and cactus fields to above tree line. The Q-core is so comfortable I cannot help but brag about it around camp or on the fire line.
At 3.5 inches thick you can sleep on your side without ever getting close to the ground. The extra thickness is also nice when sleeping on rocky or rough terrain as you’ll never feel the ground. The R-value of 5 will keep you plenty warm even while sleeping below freezing temps. Another nice feature is the I-beam construction which makes the pad feel more stable.
I call this my sleep number pad because after inflating it fully you simply lay on the pad and slowly release air until it’s prefect for you. My only complaint is blowing this bad boy up above tree line. It takes roughly 23 deep breaths to fill at 12,000ft and you get a little light headed. I love this pad. I believe I hunt harder after a good night of rest and I think you will too.

What they could do Better? Make it easier to inflate.
