Story
We were able to procure a pair of these boot for Jerry early this summer, 2011. Jerry had a sheep hunt in Idaho that he was preparing for. We wanted to get the boot in time for a complete break in. Jerry was planning to use the boots daily, hiking about 1.5-2 miles per day. He would use the boot all summer in a variety of terrain: Shale, loose dirt, mud, and boulder fields.
I checked on Jerry after the first hike, and he was already amazed. He said “I have never put on a boot that was so comfortable on day 1, I am not going to need to break this boot in at all” now that is cool. A boot that is great right out of the box.
Jerry did use the boot all year, climbing, hiking, etc. I will focus on the use during the sheep hunt in early september.
Jerry used the boots to hike in about 2 miles each day. The hiking was very very steep, and mainly in loose rock and shale…those dang sheep just love that stuff.
We hiked steep uphill, and steep downhill for 5 days. Jerry was happy to report that his initial assessment was spot on. NO BLISTERS, NO SORE SPOTS, and NO FOOT PAIN.
The shoe is constructed in a way to really protect your foot. You can walk over HARD terrain and not have the shock transfer into your foot. Much the same as you would experience in a Kennetrek boot.
This boot performed perfectly! This is a boot you could use and feel confident in wearing right out of the box. You can give it abuse, hit hard terrain, and not have the foot get sore.
Great job guys on a great boot.
What they could do better:
Ship the boot with a good oil, or wax. We scuffed the heck out of the boots
