Story:

I bought a pair of these boots just before the archery season started this year. These boots are the most comfortable out of the box boot that I have every owned. I was very fortunate this year to be able to hunt about 50 out of 75 days. Let me tell you there weren’t very many days that I didn’t hike less than 3 plus miles, on several days I was pushing 7 or 8 miles. So as you can see these boots definitely were used and abused for few months.

This boot has a moderately soft sole that enabled me to walk very quietly on harder ground and rocks and has exceptional grip. However due to this softer sole, the sole tends to wear out slightly quicker than other boots.

I was attracted to this boot based on the weight:  at a size 9 they weigh in at 2.4Lb. a pair. All the boots that I have had in the past are heavier boots around the 4 to 5Lb. range. It was a very nice change to wear a pair of boots that are half weight of my others.

In the advisement of this boot it says breathable. Well I’ve had other boots say that as well and finding out they don’t breath very well I didn’t expect anything different with these boots. To my surprise they actually do breath except well.

I was very impressed by the ability of this boot to remain rigid and not get sloppy under a HUGE load. I  packed out my deer, and gear this year with a total weight of 158Lb. for a total of 330Lb, including my body weight…. I could defiantly feel a slight flex but they actually held up very well to the 1.5 mile hike out.

Overall I have been very satisfied with the Lowa Renegades. Even with a price as high as $210, I will defiantly buy another pair of these boots when these ones wear out.

What they could do better:

The price is a bit step. I’d like to see them under the 200 price
