Sitka Gear Bivy Pack 30 review
[rating: 2/5]
Would I recommend to friend: No
Too expensive and not significantly better.
Pros:
Expandable material that stretches to fit loads tight
Comfortable, used with loads up to 100lbs with little fatigue on shoulders
Lots of exterior anchor points for adding outside loads
Many pockets to organize loads effectively
Very cool looking pack, the digital camo is awesome
Cons:
Material is a little weak, we wore a hole through ours
Buckle broke easier than we thought it should.
Price is too high for a 2 day pack
Our pack got a little squeeky after several trips.
Story:
This pack got plenty of use this year. First it went on a sheep hunt in Utah. We packed in for 3 days with this pack. It handled 3 days worth of equipment well, but with NO room to spare. On the hike out we really loaded it down with meat, more gear and trash. It topped the scale at 83 lbs. The load at this weight even seemed comfortable.
The Sitka Bivy 30 Pack then went on an Elk hunt, and a deer hunt. Each time it was used as a day pack. It handled the day pack work very well. It compresses down to the point that is seems good and compact.
We would recommend this pack as a 1-3 day pack, but not beyond that. Still a solid pack with great comfort.
What they could do better:
Toughen up the material, it is prone to wear.
Get the price down to within double similar packs. 🙂
