My Story:

I’m a complete music person.  I love to have music help motivate me and/or distract me in everything I can.  I listen to music throughout my day from work, at the gym, on the road, working around the house, and anything else I can add music to make it better.  When I first saw the Zulu Audio Wearable Bluetooth Speakers, I was intrigued and started trying to figure out all of the ways I may use them.  The catch here is, I love music, but I typically keep my music to myself.  I understand that not everyone wants to hear my music so I typically wear headphones unless I am in the comfort of my own home.  There I use my Bluetooth speaker.  It works great except if I am doing chores around the house it is hard to hear the music in other rooms or across the yard, unless I either remember to pick up the speak every time I move, or blast the music.  Here is the niche that I love these wearable Bluetooth speakers for.

The more I started to use the Zulu Audio Wearable Speakers, the more I found more applications to use them.  They are great, the two small speaker are connected together by a wire that typically goes around the back of your neck.  You connect them to yourself by the little powerful magnets.  They have a magnet in the back of each speaker, and a small pancake magnet that goes on the inside of your shirt and hold the speakers in place.  Depending on what you are doing you may choose to have the speakers lower down around your chest pointed outward, or you may have them up towards the top of your shoulders, blasting your favorite tunes towards your ears.  The speakers have a great volume to them as well.  They can go from very quiet, to rather loud for such small speakers.  When I am wearing them, I never have them all the way up, as it is to loud for me to hear what is going on around me.  Like any good person, I didn’t read the instruction when I started trying the speakers, I just connected them via Bluetooth to my phone, selected my favorite music and went for it.  At one point while listening to the speakers my phone began to ring.  I hit the power button expecting it to pause the music so I could answer my phone.  To my surprise it answered my phone, next thing I knew I was talking to my friend through the small microphone built into the speaker.  I was able to have him on “Speaker phone” with my hands free, and I we could hear each other loud and clear the entire time.

I started out just wearing the headphones when I was doing chores around the house.  I found the convenience of having my tunes follow me, keeping a constant volume great.  I started using the speakers more and more replacing my larger Bluetooth speaker for most application.  It even started cutting into applications where I typically use my headphones for.  I found myself out working on stuff in my garage with the speakers attached.  At times if I feel like not wearing them, or that they may be in my way for whatever reason you can just stick them to any metal and they will work great as a stationary speaker.  I love having them with me when I am cleaning my motorcycle and truck.  They keep me in music the entire time I am working on stuff regardless of if I need to get up and go grab something or spend the entire time sitting in one general location.

I have been using the speakers when working out in my yard.  I can typically leave my phone plugged in on my porch, and wander around picking up after my dog, raking leaves, a weeding my flower beds.  I can keep the speakers at a reasonable volume so I am happily enjoying my music, relatively loud to my ears, but none of my neighbors would be able to hear a thing, and I can still hear what is going on around me.  I have been able to get a lot more range than what is advertised.  The Bluetooth for the speakers claims about 15 feet.  I have found I can typically get anywhere from 20 to 30 feet of range.  When I know I am going to be exceeding that distance I simply keep my phone in my pocket and never worry about losing service.

As I stated, I am more of a private person when it comes to listening to my music.  This is not an item I would recommend for the gym.  Most people want to listen to their own music and would rather not listen to my music.  They do work pretty well for trail running though.  You can have the music going at a decent volume, and only affect anyone that you may come into contact with for a matter of seconds.  Because you can adjust where you wear them on your body you do not necessarily have to have the volume up to high to be able to hear them clearly at an enjoyable volume for yourself.

The Zulu Audio Bluetooth Wearable Speakers can be used for a wide range of outdoor or indoor activities where you want to have your music, don’t feel like using a big speaker to blast it, or headphones to cut you off from your surroundings.  They stick in place well from the powerful magnets, and you hardly notice that you are wearing them because of their compact design.  I don’t think I have hardly scratched the surface for the many uses of these speakers, but I can say that I thoroughly enjoy using them.  The more I use them the more I find myself wanting to use them.

What Could Be Done Better:

4.5 Stars.

The only thing that I can would like to see be done better with these speakers is to have the Bluetooth have a larger range.  The range they have is good, but it would be nice to wander farther from my phone while it is plugged in.
